Care Home Opens Its Doors On Time And On Budget!

Avery Lodge in Grantham, Lincolnshire is a new 65 bed care home providing high quality residential nursing and dementia care for the elderly. The construction of the care home required the demolition of an existing dwelling making an overall construction period of 58 weeks.

The build was completed on time and on budget and the care home opened its doors to clients in June. Goodrich Projects, acted as Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor for care home developer and operator, Avery Healthcare.

Situated in a residential area, great care was taken to minimise disturbance to the local community during the demolition of the existing Victorian house and the construction of Avery Lodge. Goodrich carried out value engineering works on the design which had to take into account a split level site and the building forming part of the retaining structure.

The design of the new care home also needed to compliment existing properties in the surrounding area. A large number of mature trees were retained on the site and where a number had to be removed, large standard trees were planted to compensate.

All Avery care homes are built to an extremely high specification and provide first class provision and care for the elderly, be they able bodied and active, those requiring nursing care or for people with dementia, and the new development in Grantham is no exception.

The new care home will be registered with the Care Quality Commission, which is the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
